From Father John Abberton, a Catholic Priest:

On the 20th anniversary of True Life in God, I want to give thanks for the goodness and mercy of God.

I have been asking myself where I was twenty years ago. I was an assistant priest in Harrogate, a famous town in the North of England. One of the memories I have of my time there was ringing the editor of a religious magazine and complaining about an article on Vassula. The editor said that I might like to talk to Father Michael O’Carroll. I said I would. Within half an hour Father O’Carroll was on the phone telling me how wrong I was about Vassula, and explaining how a report in an American Catholic newspaper was unjust and how even photographs had been changed to alter her appearance. It was some time later – another ten to fifteen years – that I met the lady herself and had the great joy of celebrating Mass in her house.

God is patient and never lets go. I give thanks and praise to Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and many thanks for the persistent motherly prayers of the Mother of Christ. For all of us, I ask the graces of protection and perseverance. I also give thanks for the ministry and fidelity of the late Father Michael O’Carroll.

I invite all TLIG readers to join me in a rosary for TLIG November 28th, 2005, 12:00 noon GMT, in thanksgiving for 20 years of TLIG and to ask the protection of Mary’s prayers for Vassula and all readers of TLIG.

Father John Abberton

From Father Nicholas, an Orthodox Priest:

Any anniversary is significant because it identifies and specifies a significant moment in an historical unveiling, be it a political, military, religious or personal venture. The inspirational journey of the Messages through True Life in God was revealed to me by accident or rather providential intervention. Quite content, and more so, comfortable in my personal religious journey in the world of ecumenism and the quest for universal church unity, reconciliation, and outreach, I had been in no way looking for something new.

After hearing me preach from the pulpit and over the airwaves, broadcasting my radio program in which I was urging Christian unity, solidarity, and focus on Jesus? supplication that all become one in His Holy Name, the Holy Spirit directed TLIG people to my doorstep.

I met Vassula some six years ago, when she came humbly to worship at my liturgy in New York as she has always done since. Little did I know or recognize then who she was and Who it was Who sent her. In confidence of conscience and heart, I can attest to the Messages that the Lord has truly revealed to “babes” what has been hidden from the intellect of sophisticates and philosophers. Truth has been uncovered and the Divine Will has been echoed, as it has been throughout the ages. God speaks to His people today, as always, with clarity and purpose and resolve. Personally insignificant, my worth is questionable, but I, nevertheless rejoice in the knowledge that the Holy Spirit has pointed me out as a lesser tool and instrument of His desirous unity of hearts. His and ours! God bless twenty years of a voice crying in the wilderness of apostasy! Vassula?s voice!

From Father Vincent Cosati:

“Your aim must be love, because it is upon love that you will be judged at the end, and not on the eloquence of your speeches or your knowledge, or your sacrifices, or on the gifts that I, in My Benevolence, have granted you; you will be judged on the measure of your love.” 1

Marvellous…essential…and so true…”Your aim must be love”…These few words are resounding today in my heart, at the time we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the gift of the Love Hymn the Lord offered us, thus reminding us of the way that leads to a True Life in God. The more I read the messages and meditate upon them, the more my spirit, my heart and my will desire, day after day, one and only one thing: receiving and striving to live “the greatest spiritual gift that is love.” 2

Reading frequently the messages, one realizes quickly that Love is their central theme: Love and Humility are the keys to unity. 3 Love allows us to bear His Cross. 4 Love glorifies God. 5 Love heals us from all that impedes us from loving. 6 Love warms us when we suffer from the cold of affliction. 7 Love in all His Tenderness forgives. 8 Love is the Root of all Virtues. 9 An incredible number of messages repeat it to us over and over again: Love is the Elixir of Life and God is its inexhaustible source. 10

The abundance of these passages is such that it inebriates the soul and the heart. In the face of such a profusion of calls and reminders, I cannot help but to thank the Lord to have gone to such lengths in order to untiringly take me back to the essential point and to have asked me whether I had really done all I could to multiply this incomparable talent of Love offered each day for free from the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

I am convinced that even after 20 years of teaching, the Lord still desires only one thing from us today, that He would not stop repeating over and over: “what I ask from you is love.” 11 I thirst for love because I am the “Master of Love. ” 12 “My Love is like a devouring Flame constantly burning! My Love is a Jealous Love.” 13 “I am Love, Love, Love. My Heart is an Abyss of Love.” 14

So then, why not renew, on this anniversary date, our firm will to belong more to Love? Let us simply make the commitment to ask every day from the Holy Spirit, by an unceasing prayer of the heart, to pour into us the impetuous rivers of Divine Love. 15

“Lord, make your love
and the sweetness of the Holy Spirit
known to all people,
so that human beings forget earthly pain,
abandon all evil and attach themselves to you
with love, so they can live in peace,
accomplishing your holy will for your Glory.”
