indeed if I am your ‘Feast-of-your-own-heart’; celebrate annually the date of today where I brought you and so many others to come into My Heart; and discover those innumerable treasures I kept for your times; keep this great day in mind; be by My side as you have been for the past ten years now: NEVER leave My side, walk with Me as you have done all these years; see how I educated you? see what I have accomplished? see My Wisdom? by adopting you, I adopted so many others; My path is straight, My ways of approaching you are delightful …. your King is perfect and beautiful;

“revive My Church, embellish My Church, unite My Church”, was My Order to you; and all I asked from you, to be able to work with you for My glory, was for you to consent to do My Will; and so you have won My friendship;

My Church benefits now with so many souls who returned to Me …. and now their praises to Me are joined with those of My angels in heaven; and from your mouth I spoke, giving what My Heart desires most for Unity; you have not toiled in vain; I had asked you to pass on My Words and My desire: the unification of the date of Easter, and so you have; see? to have acknowledged Me, My child, was indeed the perfect virtue and the light of your soul; daughter from Egypt, I kept guard on you constantly, the twilight I longed for in your soul was given to you by My Spirit thrice Holy, to fulfil My whole purpose;

This Saturday November 28th, 2009 TLIG celebrates it’s 24th anniversary. Glory be to God on giving us this profound treasure of spiritual help in our days! Can those of us whose lives have been touched by this spirituality find words powerful enough to express the thankfulness in our hearts? To help prepare readers and the various prayer groups to better observe this day we have below a special communication from Fr. Otfried who helps the evangelisation volunteers around the world:

Dear Brothers and Sisters in the Lord,

God has been speaking to us in our times of great Apostasy and Rebellion throughout the past 24 years. Therefore, we should sincerely ask ourselves what we have done concretely to respond to God’s merciful call , whether our prayer group is reviving the Mystical Body of Christ because we truly repent of our sins and desire ardently to be an instrument of God’s love and peace . Let us make this start of the 25th year of TLIG, a year of spiritual revival for TLIG worldwide.

In the New Testament the Greek verb for “revive” is “refresh”, as in Ac 3:19, “Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, and that he may send the Christ, who has been appointed for you – even Jesus.” So, to revive ourselves spiritually means to retrieve our first love, the spiritual zeal and freshness we had initially for TLIG in a new context, with new challenges and needs, by getting rid of our spiritual slackness: at the beginning many of us were all on fire for God and would die for not being working for TLIG! No wonder TLIG Family had enjoyed a rapid growth in its early years.

A search in the Messages shows that the Lord has used the word “revive” 152 times and the word “revival” 9 times. By asking Vassula to revive His Church with His Messages God means to help His Church of our generation to retrieve her beauty at the times of the first Apostles (cf. 23.09.1991; 18.02.1992; 14.09.1992). It is obvious that the Lord had foreseen that we would need a spiritual revival years after our first contact with the Messages and that He would use the very same Messages to revive us.

The TLIG Messages cannot be dissociated from the TLIG Family because they are God’s instrument to realize His salvific Plan in different parts of the world. As long as there is a country or a region that still has no TLIG prayer group, consequently no witnessing meetings can be organized to promote Christian Unity, a desire which is so dear to God, we must pray and be willing to allow God to use us to plant His vineyards in many new places: “plant Vineyards everywhere and anywhere you can, make gardens out of deserts; I have blessed My Messages to prosper and take root, so, courage, daughter;” (24.12.1991)

In the TLIG Family there are many different ways to spread TLIG Messages, but the TLIG Messages will be spread everywhere only if everyone of the TLIG Family is willing to work, either by witnessing, by hosting prayer meetings, by establishing a Beth Myriam, or by broadcasting the Messages via TLIG Radio, or by co-organizing any important international TLIG gathering, e.g. the Easter celebration in Johannesburg of next year and the International Ecumenical Pilgrimage 2011 in Rome.

Those who do not read the Messages will sooner or later neglect God’s Work and ultimately will become indifferent to the TLIG Family. On the contrary, the more we read the Messages, meditate on them and, as the Lord says, “continue to put into action the lessons learnt from Him.” (10.12.1995), the more fervent we will become and the spiritual revival of our TLIG Family will therefore take place.

There are many Messages which would help us to retrieve our first love for the Lord and to recover the zeal and the spiritual freshness we had at the beginning. Nevertheless, didactically speaking, I believe the message of 13.10.1991 is the most suitable one because in the message, Vassula as a good example for all new and old TLIG readers, lists the virtues that God expects from her, which the Lord confirms and approves. So this is also what God expects from all of us. I hope this simple but rich message, alongside with the three daily prayers recommended by Jesus (Novena to the Sacred Heart, the Memorare of St. Bernard and the prayer to St. Michael the Archangel), will be our common source to draw our spiritual strength to renew our TLIG commitments, making the 24th anniversary of TLIG Messages more than a simple remembrance of the past, but a new step forward in the history of the TLIG Family.

We all know from the Bible that one day we will be judged according to what we have received from God (cf. Mt 25,14-28). TLIG Messages are an immense grace for the humanity in our generation, and they are powerful because they can change people’s heart and save lost souls. Then, time is also a grace given by God because its proper use is for us to glorify God, to serve people and to sanctify ourselves. Our TLIG call is also a precious gift we have received from God because it leads us to conversion, holiness and unity, to a total transformation of ourselves, a perfect copy of Christ. On the occasion of the 24th anniversary of TLIG may we reap the fruit of repentance abundantly through a renewed TLIG commitment.
