Russia and Italy

Niels Christian Hvidt sends the following item from Rome:
I though I would update you on some news on Russia that might interest you. We met a Catholic priest who works in Russia. He is a good friend of Vassula, knows the messages and will help organising her upcoming trip to Moscow. He told us about Russia and how terrible the religious milieu is becoming there. The patriarch Alexis, or perhaps rather the people around him (?), are so anti-Catholic that they will persecute any Orthodox priest, and literally send them in exile in Siberia if they have any contact with Catholics. Therefore it is easy to imagine the trouble Orthodox priests will have promoting Vassula, as the messages promote unity with the Pope.
The Orthodox priests that are reading the messages will have to work through anonymous lay-people in order not to get in trouble. They may even be harassed physically, if they commit themselves ecumenically. Within a few weeks from now Catholic and Orthodox volunteers will carry the Relics of Saint Theresa of Lisieux throughout Russia. You cannot imagine the difficulties the organisers have had preparing for this pilgrimage of Saint Therese.
A friend of Vassula, a journalist, wrote an article on the problems in Russia. He states that there is a conspiracy of old KGB-people collaborating with some obscure Judeo-Masonic constellation that aims at obstructing any initiative of the Holy Spirit, forcing the patriarchate to act in deplorable ways. Vassula believes that this persecution is the answer to the prophetic question of Jesus to Russia in which he says: “You will return to me, Russia, but will it be through peace or through Fire?” He also said to Russia that if She does not repent, he would send a barbarian nation over her. Vassula believes that this persecution of the Church, as subtle and hidden it may be, equivilates the “barbarian nation” that Jesus speaks about. Let’s hope that it will not last long. Jesus did promise that at the end of this persecution Russia would become the most beautiful of Christian nations!
As it is now the first volume should be ready for Vassula’s visit. A Ukrainian priest has translated it. We handed over the hand-written manuscript to our friend in Russia who will try to find a publisher. He believes there will be much fruit when the books come out. The persecutions stem from people of high ecclesiastical ranking. The normal Russians are hungry for spiritual food and Russians in general read many books. They do not really care too much about the reactions of the hierarchy, as they have bad memories of it from the Communist time.
Right now there is much to do with True Life in God here in Rome. Great things are going on – you can really tell that God is working in, through and around Vassula plus those that have dedicated themselves to follow Jesus and his work. People keep popping up like mushrooms. These are people that have read the messages and whom God gifted in different ways. It seems sure that God will raise up workers here in Rome who can help spreading the message in this country. As you probably know, Jesus at a very early stage prophecied that He would send Vassula to an important nation and that the messages would spread and take root deeply. Vassula has no doubt that this nation is Italy.
