This past Saturday evening August 4th on the feast of St John Vianney, a saint for whom Fr. John had a particular devotion, Fr. John Abberton died in hospital in Salzburg Austria.  May he rest in peace.

Here is something that Fr. John told Ewa Allan (a reader and volunteer with TLIG for many years) only a week before his death:

“Life has got to be lived according to God’s Will. I don’t believe that God wants us to be sorrowful. He wants us to be joyful and positive in the seeking of God’s Will.” Then Father talked about one girl in particular (a young lady from Salzburg who has been a perfect friend to Father during his stay in the hospital in Salzburg). He said about her: “She is my young friend and she gave the perfect example of how we should react to God, how we should be joyful and not sorrowful. God does not want that. Also humor is important. If we put our trust in God, we must be joyful. We are to promote joy!”
