Conversion of a Hindu

My name is Bharat, 22 years of age, hailing from a non-Christian (Hindu) family in India. I was introduced to Christ and Christianity by my mother who herself is a Catholic.

I had first heard of Vassula when she had come to India couple of years back. Initially I was tempted to believe that Vassula was one of the false prophets as mentioned in Mark 13:21-23 and naturally I wanted to be on my guard. This belief prevented me from enquiring more about Vassula and the messages. But Jesus had a different plan for me.

A cloud of despair and darkness had enveloped our family. To receive some support and guidance during these times, I was compelled to meet a spiritual counselor. It was she who, in a way, introduced me to Vassula and the messages and this time I did not repel God’s plan for me.

I began by reading Angel Daniel at first and then I continued reading and reading until I had completed the seven available volumes – twice.

At the beginning of my conversion (i.e. 1994) I had accepted Jesus as my only Lord and Saviour. However, my relationship with Jesus was very inanimate. Most of my prayer time was spent in formal recitation of prayers and asking for favours. It had become a one-way communication, where in it was only I who was doing the talking and asking (that too without faith). But these messages have helped me to develop a very new, unique, active and personal relationship with Jesus. Not only have I now accepted Him as my own personal Saviour but also as a loving Father, a true Friend and a reliable Teacher. I have now realized the importance and joy of having a heart to heart conversation with Jesus through these messages.

I must admit that these messages have substantially helped me to appreciate and comprehend the Bible and other Christian literature to a greater extent. These messages are simple and pure (just like Jesus) and they never contradict the Bible. In fact they help you to understand the Bible and the Christian teachings in an easier and better way.

Since I had not received any formal instructions about Christianity and its teachings, the topics on sin and its consequences had never received the importance that it should have had in my life. This topic was, mainly, avoided by me because I did not want to bring about a change in my easy going but sinful life. These messages made me realize haw mistaken and ignorant I had been about sin and its consequences in my life and my relationship with God. I do not mean to say that I am without sin anymore, what I really want to say is that these messages have helped me in a great way to overcome the “old sinful nature”. Through Christ’s presence in these messages I have been able to forget what is behind me and do my best to reach “what is ahead of me” (Phil 3:13).

These are some of the wonderful blessings that I have received by reading and accepting the “True Life in God” messages. I truly believe that these are no ordinary messages but are from the depths of the wounded Heart of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. I am sure that these messages can help anyone who wants to develop and renew his relationship with Jesus.

With the gift of this new life that I have received in Christ and through His wonderful grace, I will be receiving my baptism this year (2002) from the Catholic Church. Dear friends please pray for me.

In Christ Jesus,
Bharat

(Bharat received his baptism in May 2002 in Mumbai, India. Vassula was one of his godparents.)
