True Life in God at the United Nations in New York
On October 24th 1998, the United Nations celebrated the 50th Anniversary of its formal Inauguration in 1948 to the fanfare of the member Nations. It must be remembered, however, that the actual charter was signed by the participating Nations on October 23rd 1948.
Early in 1998, Vassula was invited to speak to an internal working group at the UN building in New York on Christ’s Love Hymn from Heaven — during her 4 week tour of America — and the date chosen by the UN group was October 23rd 1998. Wondrous are the workings of the Holy Spirit.
Vassula was accompanied on this visit to the inner sanctum of the UN by a group of ten people: Niels Christian Hvidt from Rome, Techla Johides and John Lynch from New York together with Bob Carroll from Trinitas among others. The writer was honoured to be part of the group.
Vassula was introduced to the UN group with the clear statement — “some senior executives at the UN had now come to the view that man left to himself was incapable of solving the problems of the world”. Maria Almeda, the chairperson of the UN group turned to Vassula and asked what can be done to give peace to the world to which Vassula replied: “conversion of the world to the Order of Jesus”. Without Him, no real progress is possible.
The introduction reminded me of the second visit of Jesus to the Mount of Temptations at Jericho as revealed to Maria Valtorta. Jesus, after He assembled His Apostles took the group for a retreat & fast to the mountain to explain to them the significance of His first visit there. He explained to them that no human being, of himself, had the power to resist the machinations, the cunning and the much superior intellect of Satan. Only through the power of the Holy Spirit and the invocation of God in a continual alertness is it possible.
The theme of Vassula’s talk to the gathering was the Love of Jesus; His absolute readiness to forgive the contrite heart and again the restoration of man to the order of creature in Creation — ‘Thy Will be done on Earth as It is in Heaven’ — a True Life in God.
During her entire 60 – 90 min talk, which was followed by questions & answers, the writer observed that the entire profile of Vassula was enveloped in a Halo just as the Moon is when viewed through a humid atmosphere. As always, she herself was unaware of it seeking, as is her want, a physical explanation, perhaps local lighting above or behind — but not so. Such lighting only created illumination, shade and relief.
The published Revelations of Jesus to Vassula were presented to the UN and I trust are now available in the library of the UN Building.
On October 25th in Long Island, Vassula spoke to a very large congregation before Holy Mass concelebrated by twelve vested priests and there were other Religious (priest and nuns) in the congregation. From there she travelled to Pittsburgh, Chicago and all principal American cities to large gatherings at which the immense power & Spirit of God was visibly manifest. She is blessed among us.
I finish by quoting from Isaiah 52, 7 8: “How wonderful it is to see a
messenger coming across the mountain, bringing good news, the news of
peace and salvation to Zion. Do you hear? Those who guard the city are
shouting together for joy, because they see with their own eyes, the
return of the Lord of Zion”
