Beth Miriam appeal (2)

06 December 1999 11:28

A week ago, an appeal was made from Rome by Catarina, who accompanied Vassula on her trip to Japan and Bangladesh earlier this year, for support for a house in Bangladesh to feed the poor. This appeal is repeated here but with details of ADDITIONAL ways of making contributions, including credit card payments here on the web.

Following Vassula’s visit to Bangladesh in August of this year, she was again reminded of the great divide between riches and poverty that exists in our world, having just flown in from affluent Japan to the deprivation and poverty of urban Bangladesh. The differences were very marked and discussed in the visit report.

Bangladesh has a population of 123 million people, the majority of whom live well below the poverty line and do not receive a proper daily calorific intake. Many of the people in the heavily urbanised capital of Dhaka are homeless, have no access to water, sanitation, clothes, shelter or food to sustain them through the day.

As a result of this visit and through much prayer and requested guidance from the Holy Spirit, a small house to feed the poor will be set up in Dhaka, Bangladesh, the second Beth Miriam, as the first will be opened and inaugurated by Vassula in Venezuela in the beginning of December. This house, the Beth Miriam of Dhaka, will initially serve a small number of people who would otherwise receive no food, some food, shelter and sanitation.

The main thing that these people will be served will be Love…. the Love of Our Lord Jesus Christ as we endeavour to serve Him by serving one another. Scripture teaches us: “When Lord did we see You hungry and feed You, thirsty and give You a drink……. I tell you whenever you did this to the least of My brothers of Mine, you did it to Me.” (Matthew 25:37-40)

In order to sustain the running of this house, approximately $800 U.S. per month is required, most of which will be for the rent of the building, which is $500 per month.

About a dozen people will be fed and accommodated where necessary and nurtured on Our Lord’s Love which will be administered through the actions of those chosen to work in this project. “Our Love should not just be words and talk, it must be true love which shows itself in its action.” (1 John 3:18-19)

Not all of us are called to work in this project, but Jesus does teach us to be generous with our love in other ways. On May 23, 1986, Vassula’s Angel, Daniel, said to her: “collect money and give it to the poor needy souls; … be generous.” After that, what Vassula earned in her painting exhibition was given to the poor.

As this project needs substantial resources, please respond to true love and show this true love, by donating what financial assistance you can manage, to help our brothers and sisters in Bangladesh.

“Whoever has this world’s goods and sees his brother in need and shuts up his heart from him, how does the Love of God abide in him? So let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth. And by this we know that we are of the truth and shall assure our hearts before Him.” (1 John 3:17-19)

Below are account details and different ways of making your donation and your response to love.

St. Paul reminds us, as when he was addressing the Corinthians: “He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver!”

Thanks be to God for His indescribable gifts !!!
