Dear listeners, you are listening to TLIG Radio and here is the news for this week:
We start this bulletin by wishing you a very Happy and Holy New Year!
At the beginning of the week of prayer for Christian unity, Vassula celebrated her birthday. We send her all our love and blessings and thanks for her great mission and once again we give heartfelt thanks to God for giving us the Messages of True Life in God through our sister Vassula.
This bulletin is devoted to the positive things that have happened in the last year in support of Christian unity.
· On June 12th 2015 in Rome, Pope Francis held a meeting with 1,000 priests from 90 countries to discuss a fixed date for Easter so that all Christians around the world could celebrate Easter on the same day. He emphasised the wrongness of the present situation by commenting: “When does your Christ rise? My Christ rose today and yours next week? A scandal!”
· On June 19th 2015, the Syrian Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch, Mor Ignatius Aphrem 11 and Pope Francis, expressed their desire to work toward full communion of the two churches.
· On June 23rd 2015, The World Council of Churches received a message from Pope Francis to encourage further dialogue on unity.
· On July 3rd 2015, Pope Francis told a group gathered together in St Peter’s Square that Christians share the same Baptism and that Catholics, Orthodox and Protestants can and must pray together.
· On November 30th 2015, the head of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, Cardinal Kurt Koch, hand delivered a message from Pope Francis to Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, the Orthodox leader in Constantinople, for the feast of the Apostle Andrew, patron saint of the Orthodox world.
· We also remind you dear listeners that Petition Kits are available online for you to print and gather signatures from your parishes and communities for the one date of Easter petition. To find this go to the website: onedate.org
Dear listeners, thank you for listening to True life in God radio. May we continue to pray for Christian unity and may God in His mercy, hear our prayer.
