Miracle in Bangladesh
14 May 1999 07:56
David Huxley (the ‘David’ who is mentioned in the early messages to Vassula) sends the following from Bangladesh, adding that it could be an excuse for people to visit Bangladesh especially in August when Vassula will be there.
On Friday the 7th May a pilgrimage by ten people was made to Haluahgat Thana which is approximately one hour north of Mymensingh (three hours north of Dhaka) to the small village of Shapmarikanda. It was reported in a local Bangladeshi Baptist paper that a miracle had occurred in this village just before the New Year.
In order to verify the claims by this paper as well as claims that healings were occurring as a result of the waters of the pond, members of the Tejgaon True Life in God prayer group and others journeyed there in a rented mini bus. The following is an account by the members of the prayer group after interviewing witnesses to the event. It should be mentioned that while we were there two Muslim girls from Dhaka came to the spot and prayed in front of the cross and took several bottles of water with them. The following account is produced from the original hand-written version.

The vision took place on the 29th and 30th December 1998. The name of the place is Shapmarikanda under Mymensingh District. It’s a very simple rural area and is situated near Haluaghat bus stand and bazaar. Anyone can reach the spot by car and minibus.
The time was 4:00 or 4:30 am of the 29th December. It was almost dark. The viewer of the vision is Matin Chisim who wakes up naturally and comes out of his room between 4:00 and 4:30am. The distance between his room and the spot is only a few feet. Matin first saw a light near the culvert and within a very short time the light took the shape of a star. Seeing the star, Matin called his wife who came at once and they saw the star together. They came on the culvert and became very astonished and their astonishment increased as they also saw a cross with five stars around it and they were situated very close to the star they saw first. The star was located in the north and the cross with five small stars around it were located in the south. In the interview Matin said the star and the cross and the five other stars all were milk-white in colour.
While we were talking with Matin we found a gathering forming around us. Among them some Muslims and a young man who was the third person who visited the place of the vision just after Matin Chisim and his wife. It is worthy of mention here that this third visitor is a young Christian man. After speaking to Matin I questioned him. In response he said he saw the star near the culvert and the cross with five stars around it. I asked him about the size of the cross and stars. He said the size of the big star, which was located near the culvert was four to five feet across and the size of the cross was two feet and the five stars around the cross were approximately four inches. He emphasised that the colour of those stars and the cross were milk-white. After seeing the miraculous cross and stars he ran into the village where at a house all the Christian believers had been praying and singing hymns before the Holy cross of the millennium jubilee. It had arrived at that village just before the day of the vision.
Pius Rema informed them of the miracle and all the believers at once came to the spot and saw the cross and star. This unbelievable scene bewildered them all and as these were the holy sign of our Lord Jesus Christ, they spontaneously began to pray and sing hymns and
they continued until the vision disappeared. To be more certain I
interrogated several Muslim men about what they really saw at the
spot. They very spontaneously described the same thing. They
asserted that they saw the vision from dawn to midday and four or
five hundred people visited the place. They said that this
duration was for the first day and on the second day some thing happened on the same location. But according to those eyewitnesses the duration was reduced and it lasted from dawn to 8:30 or 9am and on the second day the size of the star and the cross with five stars around it also were reduced. Moreover, a man named Kaluman Chisim who very curiously stirred the floating cross and the stars with a stick and who also had thrown a brick at the cross but the cross remained unchanged.
People of other religions considered the matter was a miracle and believed that it has been from God. So many people who had been suffering from different diseases began to drink the water from this swampy spot and were cured. Those who were cured have recognised the miracle and described the events in a writing book which is kept in a shop situated beside the culvert. All the cured people also signed and gave their addresses. Some eye-witnesses insisted that they saw a dumb person cured who drank the water from the swamp.
They said they heard him talk with joy. This incident is related by
some Muslim men. So we can take it as a miracle. We heard all
this from the place of the visions and we are:-
