We had scoffed at the wide array of minor attacks from the Evil One during this UK mission thus far, like blockages that would have made us miss our flights, equipment failures, fire alarms mysteriously being set off. We even laughed off the petrol spill across from the hotel we were staying in which set the hotel staff into «emergency mode» and shuffled us off to the rear of the building in case of an explosion. Ha! All this were mere nuisances compared to this latest attack. This one was for real.

«We almost lost her!»

«We almost lost her,» said Carol Chamberlain, a registered nurse who was with Vassula when her breathing seized.

It was the day after the large meeting in Edinburgh, Scotland and Vassula was scheduled to meet with a handful of clergy from the Orthodox, Catholic and Protestant churches to discuss and share the Lord’s Message on unity. We had just found a solution to a problem we had with the preparations of the meeting and this is what must have infuriated Satan.

Vassula and Carol were in Vassula’s room preparing to leave when suddenly I heard from downstairs someone frantically gasping for breath. I never thought it could be Vassula until I rushed to the bottom of the stairs, looked up and saw Vassula herself trying everything she had to find a breath of air. Carol was just behind her with her hands on her back trying to keep her calm so not to panic and go into shock. Even in this situation, Vassula seemed collected and relatively calm. Because of that, the level of severity was not apparent to me. But when Carol looked directly at me and said, «dial 999», the gravity of the situation sunk in quickly. I grabbed the phone, dialed 999 and ran back to the stairs. It was then that Vassula caught her breath again and Carol told me I could hang up. The whole episode lasted for 2 — 3 minutes.

Carol, who had seen this before from her work in the nursing field for some time said she thought that we were going to lose her right there and then. Vassula herself said, «I felt it coming,» referring to her death.

Technically speaking, Vassula’s peripheral system had shut down and she was on the verge of entering respiratory arrest. In lay mans terms, because her breathing stopped, her body focused all its’ attention on her heart and lungs and the rest of her body stopped responding. This also releases heavy amounts of adrenaline into the bloodstream, which causes a lot of pain in the body. «You feel like you got hit by a truck,’ says Carol. Vassula said, afterwards, it was the same feeling as if she was just on the mend from a bed ridden disease or the like. Even her voice changed and was much lower than her normal voice.

Vassula, like a true prophet, rested for about a half hour, got up and went to the meeting and with enthusiasm and vigor, shared the Lord’s appeal to unify the dates of Easter, to unite and be one and ended by reciting the Lord’s address to the «House of the East» and the «House of the West.»

This account is being sent to the readers of True Life in God for a purpose. It is a vivid reminder to everyone that Vassula needs prayers too. Some, even many, think that because Vassula has been so Blessed by God and given this charism that she is «taken care of» so to speak. She needs prayers. Many prayers. Many more prayers than one would think. So, this is also a reminder to please pray for Vassula, her protection, her mission.

God Bless,
Mark
