God is on my side

In two mailings sent to this list (May 16
/forum/forum505.html and May 21
/forum/forum506.html ), Cheri Gillespie raised the topic of introducing and teaching the TLIG messages to children and young people.

There is a section on the TLIG discussion list on the website for placing contributions. Here is a little contribution, recently added, from Jos van Hooijdonk from New Zealand:

This very interesting and important subject has had my attention from the beginning and I would like to give some, hopefully, positive input.

Having been a primary school caretaker for some 14 years, I have had ample oppertunity to evangelise while doing my daily duties. When this job became (providentially) available when I was without work as a self employed carpenter, I knew that the Lord not only gave me a job but more so a mission field among the little ones.

During these years I have made use of every opportunity that came along, to steer the children into the right direction by letting them know who my Best Friend is and how He loves us all and never lets anyone down, no matter what the past may have been. For the last five years I have been giving the children a stamp on their hands that says ‘God is on my side’. Above these words they have a ‘thumb up’with a smily face.

At this point I should mention that THE ONLY ONES THAT WANT THE STAMPS PUT ON THEIR HANDS AND WHO DANCE HAPPILY AWAY ARE THE CHILDREN!!

Are the TLIG Messages not pointing at us grown ups to become like these little ones? Are they not asking us to change so that we can be the the examples and Christlike rolemodels to them? It is Jesus’ request to follow Him so that in turn (in this case) the little ones will follow us. I hope all this will be of some help towards concern regarding the teaching of TLIG to the young ones.

Love you all heaps in Christ

Jos
