There is something about the word “holiness” which does not gain much traction in today’s western culture. It is hard to imagine a mother telling another mother about how “holy” her son or daughter is; or a father bragging to his friend at work about how “holy” his son has become. It is a quality of personage that is hardly ever aspired to in today’s world. Sometimes in fact, holiness is viewed as a negative quality. If someone is actually holy it can be a point of derision. We recall the words of Jesus that in our times “every good is deformed into evil”. (May 24 1987)

Often In True life in God, Jesus asks us to live holy, to be holy. On December 11th 1986 the message title is: Are You Willing To Be Holy?

daughter, are you willing to be holy? do not fear;

(Jesus came back to the same subject of the previous message.)

What is it exactly to be holy?

to be holy is to be pure and completely devoted to Me; holy is to work with love for Me; holy is to love Me and stay near Me; holy is to obey the Law; holy is to be like I am;

Can one be holy in heart only?

yes!

Is the heart what counts more than the holy clothes?

yes, the heart is what is important;

The great secret in plain sight – depends on your perspective. If you go out into space it is easy to see the lights of the big cities of the world at night. The same effect on a lesser scale can be seen from an aircraft flying over cloud free land at night . At night, it is easy to see the lighted cities, and the higher you go the more cities you can see at once. In the same way no doubt God can see into every human heart all at once and see instantly which hearts are holy. In fact, from His perspective, it is “plain sight”. We are his “cities” as he frequently refers to us in the messages. In a more subtle way, so is it for all of us, to see this holiness if we look for it.

Almost every person at some time has been touched by goodness and love. I like using these words: Goodness and Love. No doubt, they are preeminent aspects of holiness. They are no doubt appropriate words to describe Jesus as well; Jesus being the very embodiment of goodness and love.

Looking back over my own life, at many turning points someone was there who was exercising holiness. Someone was there who manifested to some degree towards me goodness and love. This goodness and love that was shown to me made a difference for me; with material help, with prayers, with kindness, with interest in me. So often these days we do not take an interest in other people. This interest in others is a prerequisite for love. We at least, have to take an interest in others. When we take an interest in others, we are able to put aside our own ego, our own “me, myself and I” self interests which dominate most of our time.

Then we can focus on others: How are you really doing? What is going on with your life? Is there something you are struggling with or pains you have, I can help you with ? Interest in others can also be just willing to listen, willing to put ourselves aside and listen to another. This attentiveness, this interest – this willingness to put aside self has to be present before we can ascend to being loving and good towards others. When people including ourselves act with goodness and love towards others we are being holy! Plain to see and we have all experienced it.

What I am trying to say Jesus emphasized in His most recent message:

In the last released message (May 5th 2011) Jesus tells us: “…open wide your hearts and receive Me; be united, helping one another and try to console My people in these times; the love of your neighbor should be your main concern;

This is exactly what the world needs today – this is exactly what God scans human hearts for: Goodness and love. The H word …. ( Holy) is not popular these days – but at least so far, goodness and love are still not banned. Perhaps they are misunderstood, but are still qualities appreciated by people that have not sunken completely into a spiritual abyss. Once enough of us have grown in holiness (goodness and love), and in fact begin to aspire to the radical notion of being good and loving in our lives towards others, we can then collectively serve as the little bit of leaven that raises the lump.

Look back at your own life at crisis points , turning points and see if you too can see the intervention of goodness and love anywhere. A helpful word from a friend or colleague, kindness from a stranger, good counsel from clergy; all of this we could call the working of “Holiness”. This is a something we can all aspire to:

Jesus Tells Us In The Messages

I will tell you; let your attitude, your thoughts, your wishes, your meditations, your reflections, your services, your needs, everything! let them be a prayer: My Image; every scope given to you should enliven within you a holiness, this holiness which was given to you by Me but souls have forgotten how to use it; I have given to each soul this gift; I will enliven this grace which now lies dormant within you all; I love holiness; (May 10th 1988)

We have to rediscover this “gift ” Jesus says all of us have … this gift of holiness He gave to every one of us. In this excerpt Jesus is telling us every scope should enliven us with holiness – “scope” means that in every “outlook, space for movement, opportunity for operation” is where we have a chance to be Holy … and we need to make this almost like an instinct.

All day long we have a chance to use this gift of love and goodness … and exercise holiness as Jesus says above in your “attitudes” thoughts, wishes, meditations, reflections, services, needs, everything! … all of these can be prayers.

These simple words of Jesus are so profound …and the implications so stupendous they are worthy of long and deep Holy contemplation: A great secret in plain sight.

Jesus is telling us we have forgotten how to use the gift of holiness we all have been given, and he is now going to enliven it in us. This is something we can grow in awareness of. This is something we can exercise; this is something that will transform us and turn us into helpers in His Kingdom and intimate friends of God.

In conclusion, let us have a holy contemplation of this message again:

“I will tell you; let your attitude, your thoughts, your wishes, your meditations, your reflections, your services, your needs, everything! let them be a prayer: My Image; every scope given to you should enliven within you a holiness, this holiness which was given to you by Me, but souls have forgotten how to use it; I have given to each soul this gift; I will enliven this grace which now lies dormant within you all; I love holiness;”
