True Life in God Recollection “The Holy Spirit within Us”

Vassula has been invited to speak in Singapore several times.   This Asian country in the Far East has served as the hub and springboard for her travels in Asia.  TLIG in Singapore has been, for many years, struggling to survive, for in this small island of many religions, Christians are in the minority.  Our faithful TLIG readers formed an Association, published the Messages, and formed TLIG Prayer Groups that meet regularly.  They are composed of Catholics, Protestants, and one Orthodox!  Sophia from Greece has been living in Singapore with her husband for a few years now. 

During the octave of the CatholicChurch’s celebration of the Feast of Pentecost, our brothers and sisters in the TLIG Singapore Association invited Vassula to a one-day TLIG Recollection whose theme was “The Holy Spirit within us.”  This intimate gathering of the TLIG Singapore Prayer Groups and others was held in one of the halls of the Singapore Swimming Club.  Fr. Frank Taeza from the Philippines was invited to preside over the activities of the day. 

Vassula was requested to speak on the Holy Spirit, one of the great themes of the Messages of True Life in God.  There are pages and pages of teachings in the Messages on who the Holy Spirit is, what the Holy Spirit’s role is as the third Divine Person of the Trinity, what is the action of the Holy Spirit, and how to ask for and receive the 7 Gifts of the Holy Spirit.  We prayed with Vassula as she asked for each of the 7 Gifts of Understanding, Counsel, Fortitude, Knowledge, Wisdom, Piety, and Fear of the Lord in her prayer.

Through True Life in God, we have learned that the way to obtain the Holy Spirit and all His Gifts is to first empty our hearts of  all iniquities; the Holy Spirit can find no place in a heart in debt to sin.  There is no space for the Holy Spirit in an unforgiving heart.  The Recollection was an exercise in Repentance and Forgiveness, as we were invited to look within ourselves to divest our minds and our hearts of any bitterness, resentments, and lack of forgiveness.  This examination of conscience gave the participants the opportunity to let go of hurts and grudges towards others, so as to realize that these constitute thorns in Our Lord’s Sacred Heart.  The Program, which was filled with songs, as well as Vassula and Fr. Frank’s talks, Confession, and the Holy Mass that followed were an invitation for a cleansing of our souls.  After this series of events, Vassula prayed over the people, bringing the Holy Spirit to them in full force.  There was surely a special grace given that day to those who listened to Vassula share the knowledge given to her by the Holy Spirit.
